Naomi Loomis considers traveling to be one of her favorite hobbies and she regularly visits unique locations in the United States and overseas with her husband and their kids.
The family also likes to mix things up, traveling sometimes by air, other times by a chartered yacht, and even by motorcycle when attending local events.
Last year, Naomi Loomis and her husband rode their custom choppers from their home in Orlando, Florida to Daytona Beach to take in Bike Week 2013.
That particular event was the 72nd of its kind, held between March 8th and 17th. Riders were able to enjoy a wide range of activities including motorcycle themed events, exhibitions, and races.
Most major manufacturers were there to debut new models and exhibit popular products. Harley Davidson allowed riders to ride the new Breakout and Indian Motorcycle introduced its new Thunder Stroke 111 V-Twin in an event hosted by Mike Wolfe of American Pickers. Darkside Scientific took the opportunity to unveil its new line of electroluminescent paint.
Over the course of the week, Naomi Loomis and other attendees were able to take part in events such as:
- Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show: This prestigious competition took place for the 42nd consecutive Bike Week, awarding builders handmade trophies for the best custom bikes.
- Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Old School Chopper Show: A different kind of custom chopper competition, contestants in this event travel from small shops and garages across the country. Competitors are more likely to reinvent old parts than order new parts out of a catalog.
- 2013 Bike Week Raffle: The 2013 Official Bike Week Motorcycle, which was a 2012 Street Glide customized by Harley-Davidson of Daytona, was appraised at $35,000. One lucky winner got to ride this bike home.
- Annual Coleslaw Wrestling Competition: One of the more offbeat events during Bike Week, this competition pits twelve female contestants against each other in a ring covered with shredded cabbage. The winner walked away with $500.
